Our client requires a Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Engineering of software products in accordance with the Research and Development plan, ensuring that the product requirements are met in accordance with planned timescales and costs.

A senior software engineer should have a proven ability to successfully specify and design software for sub-systems of reasonable size and complexity; and proven ability to carry out significant software development without close supervision, with the expected speed and quality

Specific responsibilities

•  Specialist analysis and/or design

•  Interpretation of contractual & requirements information.

•  Conceptual design of software components and systems.

•  Identification of COTS Software and Hardware Solutions.

•  Evaluation of COTS products to determine suitability for Subsea applications.

•  Creation of Software Design and Test Specifications for specific software components.

•  Creation of software to standards as defined within the R&D Department for software development

•  Support of the procurement department in reviewing, commenting and approving supplier and sub-contractor documentation.

•  Support of the procurement department in technical liaison and management of suppliers and sub-contractors.

•  Conduct qualification testing of new products and/or fault diagnosis of returned products in the Engineering laboratory

•  To ensure that best practice is followed to achieve maximum levels of safety, quality and efficiency are sustained.

•  Responsible for own time management, and that of other Engineers/Designers if asked to lead a team task

Qualifications

Degree in Software Engineering or Equivalent

- And a minimum of four years post graduate software engineering working on real-time embedded software development projects developing software in C/C++

Detailed Knowledge of Digital Electronics Systems

- Experience of working within a controlled software development department under a quality management system.

- Knowledge of Communications & Telemetry systems such as TCP/IP, Ethernet and PPP, CANOpen, Profibus

Desired

- Experience of 32 bit Embedded Microcontrollers

- Experience of Real Time Embedded Operating Systems

- Experience of electronics debugging facilities such as In-Circuit Emulators,

- Protocol Analysers and Oscilloscopes

- Capable of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules and be 'commercially aware' 

   in engineering solutions.
