·        Responsible for the day to day operations of the Mechanical Design Team

·        Setting and prioritising projects and tasks for the Mechanical Design Engineers, providing assistance in decision making when difficulties arise

To research, design. prototype, evaluate and maintain the companies Mechanical products, applying knowledge of engineering principles

·        Implement and meet design phases required to ensure successful introduction of products into production and end customer

·        Continuously review manufacturing and production processes, introducing new materials and applying new technology, always with a view to deliver cost effective products.

·        Create 2D and 3D drawing packages

·        Overseeing quality of team designs and drawing packages

·        Working with the team to enhance skills and improve experience on products and industry knowledge, addressing staff development and training needs

·        Producing project updates, work in progress and mechanical team reports on a regular basis

·        Where necessary, to provide reasonable support to other departments within the company.

·        focus on overall product design

·        Knowledge of alternative materials to metal and how they can be applied to areas of product design

·        Progresses change to improve efficiency

·        Understands the importance of staff development and teamwork

·        Able to handle the day to day staff issues when running a small team

·        Experience of SolidWorks or other similar design applications

·        Understanding of drawing standards BS308 and BS8888

·        Good understanding of materials and the implications of using them in production and outdoor environments

·        Knowledge of electromechanical products would be an advantage

·        Experience of approval processes including safety, industry standards and environmental regulations

·        Hands on approach to design

·        Communicates well with all levels of staff and customer

·        Results orientated and driven to achieve objectives
